Small-business break-even and profit calculator

Free break-even calculator: enter your price, cost per unit, fees and monthly fixed costs to see break-even units, break-even revenue and profit at your expected sales.

The formulas

Contribution per sale = price − cost per unit − (fee % × price)
Break-even sales = fixed costs ÷ contribution per sale (rounded up)
Profit = sales × contribution − fixed costs

Example: a $25 product that costs $8 to make, with 10% fees, contributes $25 − $8 − $2.50 = $14.50. With $1,200 of monthly fixed costs (rent, software, insurance), you break even at 1,200 ÷ 14.50 = 82.8, so 83 sales. At 150 sales, profit is 150 × 14.50 − 1,200 = $975 before taxes.

Fixed costs are what you pay even with zero sales. Include your own pay if you want the break-even point to cover it. This is a planning estimate, not tax or financial advice.
